BRINK: BEST MIX OF YOUR FAVORITE TITLES

Another game that should be coming out in 2010, but may be delayed due to the ambitiousness of the project, is a next gen shooter called Brink. But what really makes this new title a next gen game? Is it the innovative way they incorporate their parkour 'SMART button' (Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain) to fluidly move around objects? Or is it a next gen game because it takes the best of Halo, Half-Life, Team Fortress 2 and Mirror's Edge and combines it into one hell of an idea? It's probably both, and a lot more than that. The art design, gameplay and story all seem to serve a purpose in Brink. These two videos will help give you a better idea of what I'm talking about here, but needless to say, this is a game we should all be watching out for.

There are some things that I'm seeing that could possibly annoy me though. Leave it to me to find the small stuff and rant about it. Like the weapon movement when your character is slowly walking. Really? Would a gun really move up and down like that? Seems a bit over-emphasized to me. The characters, much like my hatred for the way Bayonetta was designed, are so completely out of proportion to their head it doesn't... well, y'know what? It doesn't matter. Because I'm really enjoying the art style Splash Damage decided on and it looks badass. Just like the guy says. And if Splash Damages multiplayer experience is anything to go by, gamers are in for a real treat with this one.

Brink should be released by Fall 2010, but like I said, don't count on it. I think we've learned our lesson this year with all the games that got delayed from Fall to Spring. A trend may have been started, especially if this game comes out against anything that starts with Halo, Gears, Call of, or Bio.
